British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke celebrated Christmas by embracing local traditions and wearing a hand-loomed Tangail Saree.
On Thursday (December 25), the British High Commission in Dhaka shared a video and caption on X (formerly Twitter), stating:
"British High Commissioner @HCSarahCooke is celebrating Christmas in true Bangladeshi style! ?
She wore a Tangail handloom saree, from a weaving tradition of Bangladesh recently recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Check out her Christmas look!"

The accompanying video shows the High Commissioner observing the intricate weaving process of the Tangail Saree. Dressed in the traditional attire, she extended her warm Christmas greetings to the people of Bangladesh.
The choice of garment is particularly significant as UNESCO officially inscribed the Traditional Saree Weaving Art of Tangail on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity earlier this month (December 2025).
Meanwhile, several other foreign missions in Dhaka also extended their festive greetings.
