The special prayers will be held in mosques across the country following Jummah for the late former Prime Minister and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia across Bangladesh on Friday.

This initiative was officially announced by the Islamic Foundation under the Ministry of Religious Affairs, which issued an official directive through its Coordination Division to ensure the prayers are offered for the eternal peace of her soul.

In light of her passing, the government has officially declared a three-day period of state mourning.

As a mark of respect, the national flag is being flown at half-mast at all government, semi-government and autonomous institutions, as well as at educational facilities and Bangladesh missions located abroad.

To facilitate these observances, the Islamic Foundation has instructed its divisional and district offices to oversee the mourning program and ensure that the special prayer sessions are conducted appropriately throughout the country.
