Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman has stepped forward to provide medical assistance to Firoza Akhter, the ailing wife of Shaheed Firoz Ahmed, who lost his life during the mass uprising in July-August, 2024.

Acting on the directives of Tarique Rahman and the medical advice of his wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman, a high-level BNP delegation visited Firoza Akhter at her residence in the capital’s Lalmatia area on Monday.

The delegation was led by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General and 'Amra BNP Paribar' Chief Adviser Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

During the visit, the leaders inquired about her health and handed over financial assistance for her treatment.

Rizvi emphasized that the party remains committed to the families of those who sacrificed their lives for the nation's second independence.

He also reiterated Tarique Rahman's pledge to provide state-level rehabilitation and healthcare cards for the families of all martyrs and injured activists if the BNP is elected to power.

The delegation included 'Amra BNP Paribar' Convener Atiqur Rahman Rumon, BNP Health Affairs Secretary Dr.Rafiqul Islam and several other central and wing leaders from the Swecchasebak Dal and Chatradal.

Firoz Ahmed, originally from Rajshahi, was killed on August 5 during the final stages of the revolution.
