Nepal’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Bala Nanda Sharma, is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on Monday night to represent his country at the swearing-in ceremony of Bangladesh’s newly elected government.

Traveling via a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Kathmandu, Minister Sharma is expected to touch down at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 10:15 pm.

The high-level visit follows the landslide victory of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in the13th National Parliament Election and the concurrent constitutional Referendum, held on last Thursday, which will see Tarique Rahman assume office as Prime Minister this Tuesday.

Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the Minister’s participation underscores Kathmandu's commitment to deepening the bonds of cooperation and strengthening neighborly ties with Bangladesh.

Accompanying Minister Sharma is a delegation of senior officials who will engage with the incoming administration before the Minister returns to Kathmandu on February 19.

This visit follows a congratulatory message from Nepal’s Prime Minister Sushila Karki, who last Friday lauded the successful conduct of the elections and Tarique Rahman’s leadership.

In her message, Prime Minister Karki expressed her eagerness to work closely with the new government on mutual interests, signaling a new chapter in Nepal-Bangladesh relations.
