Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury announced on Thursday that flights on the Dhaka-Sylhet-Manchester route will resume shortly after the conclusion of the Hajj season.

Speaking as the chief guest at an iftar and reception organized by the Sylhet District Bar Association, the Minister clarified that the service was only temporarily suspended to prioritize the transportation of Hajj pilgrims.

"The Dhaka-Sylhet-Manchester flight has not been permanently suspended," Minister Ariful explained, noting that flight frequencies on several other routes had also been reduced to accommodate the Hajj operations.

He assured the community that the route remains a priority for the government and will return to its regular schedule once the seasonal demand subsides.

Ariful, who also holds the portfolio for Labour and Employment, emphasized the new government's commitment to public service under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

He stated that the administration would work "tirelessly every day over the next five years" to fulfill the trust and expectations of the people.

Addressing specific concerns regarding travel, the Minister pledged to ensure hassle-free services for expatriate passengers across all national airports. To this end, he announced a high-level review meeting scheduled for next Sunday with senior ministry officials.

"Concerned officials will conduct on-site inspections to identify the issues and take prompt and effective measures to resolve them," he added, noting that improvements to facilities for expatriates would be rolled out gradually nationwide.

The event was chaired by the President of the Sylhet District Bar Association, Golam Yahya Chowdhury Suhel, and attended by special guest Emran Ahmed Chowdhury, MP.

The gathering included various government department heads and leaders of the legal community, marking a significant engagement for the Minister in his home district following the recent national elections.
