Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has issued a series of directives aimed at modernizing Bangladesh's labor export sector, enhancing traveler facilities and fulfilling local development pledges.

During a high-level committee meeting held at the Secretariat on Thursday, the Premier focused on streamlining overseas employment and ensuring the welfare of expatriates.

National Language Training Centers for Overseas Jobs

To build a highly skilled workforce, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman directed the authorities to establish language training centers across the country.

According to the Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary, Atikur Rahman Rumon, the goal is to prepare unemployed youth for specialized markets abroad.

"The Prime Minister instructed the authorities to establish language training centers with the involvement of both local and foreign teachers so that unemployed youths can learn different languages and secure job opportunities abroad," Rumon stated.

Financial Support for Migrant Workers

Recognizing the financial burden on job seekers, the Prime Minister ordered the introduction of low-interest bank loans.

He emphasized simplifying the loan application process to ensure that aspiring migrant workers do not have to sell their ancestral property to afford the costs of going abroad.

The meeting, attended by Labor and Expatriates’ Welfare Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury and State Minister Nurul Haque Nur, discussed these measures as part of a broader strategy to expand employment opportunities quickly.

Free WiFi at International Airports

In a move to modernize the country’s aviation hubs, the Prime Minister directed the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry to introduce free WiFi services at the terminals of the three international airports in Dhaka, Chattogram, and Sylhet.

He noted that these facilities should match the standards of airports in developed countries, providing much-needed connectivity for both arriving and departing passengers.

Renovation of Temple in Dhaka-17

Fulfilling a key election campaign promise in his constituency, Dhaka-17, the Prime Minister ordered the immediate renovation of a Hindu temple located near the Mohakhali Cancer Hospital.

"The Prime Minister has instructed that renovation work of the temple begin on Saturday," Rumon confirmed.

Senior officials and coordinators are scheduled to be present at the site at 11 am this Saturday to oversee the commencement of the project.

Energy Austerity at the Secretariat

The session also highlighted the Prime Minister’s personal commitment to energy conservation.

Following his earlier move to switch off half the lights in his own office, he urged all attendees and government institutions to maintain strict austerity in electricity consumption to manage national resources effectively.
