A tragic accident in Natore and a bus crash in Bandarban have left one person dead and at least 15 others injured during a weekend marked by several road-related incidents across the country.
In Natore, a 21-year-old truck helper identified as Muhammad Lam was killed on the Natore-Dhaka highway on Saturday afternoon.
Lam, the son of Azad Mia from Kushtia district, was assisting in a towing operation in the Baro Harishpur area when the accident occurred.
According to Mahbubur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of the Jhalmalia Highway Police Station, a disabled truck was being towed by another vehicle when Lam fell from the upper bumper.
He was tragically crushed between the two trucks and died instantly at the scene.
Police have since recovered the body and transported it to the Natore Sadar Modern Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Meanwhile, early Sunday morning in Bandarban, at least 15 tourists were injured when a "Saudia Paribahan" bus lost control near the Bandarban University area in Sadar upazila.
The accident occurred around 5 am when the driver reportedly lost steering control, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and plunge into a roadside ditch.
Additional Police Super (Sadar Circle) Manna Dey confirmed that local residents led the initial rescue efforts, transporting the injured to Bandarban Sadar Hospital.
While most are receiving local care, one passenger remains in critical condition and has been transferred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for specialized treatment.
