Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu fell seriously ill on Saturday morning shortly after arriving at Saidpur Airport in Nilphamari district.
The Minister is currently being prepared for an emergency airlift to the capital for advanced medical care.
According to Abdur Gafur Sarkar, President of the Saidpur district unit BNP, the Minister arrived at the airport via a morning flight from Dhaka with the intention of traveling to his home district, Lalmonirhat.
However, he suddenly became unwell while waiting in the airport lounge.
Airport authorities and staff acted swiftly, transporting the Minister to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) at Saidpur Cantonment, where he received immediate primary treatment.
Efforts were initially made to return the Minister to Dhaka on a scheduled commercial flight at approximately 12:10 pm.
"As his condition did not improve, he was unable to travel by commercial flight," Gafur Sarkar explained. Following a medical assessment, officials decided that an air ambulance was necessary for his safe transfer.
The air ambulance has already departed from Dhaka and is expected to transport the Minister back to the capital later this day for specialized treatment.
