BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday urged the affluent section of society to extend their support to the poor and helpless during Eid-ul-Azha, noting that the festival inherently promotes equality, generosity and mutual harmony.

In a message issued ahead of one of the largest religious festivals for Muslims, the BNP leader extended his heartfelt greetings to Muslims in Bangladesh and across the globe, wishing everyone continuous happiness, peace and prosperity.

Mirza Fakhrul emphasized that the core significance of Eid-ul-Azha lies in attaining closeness to Almighty Allah through deep devotion, obedience, and self-sacrifice.

"The sacrifice of animals symbolizes the spirit of removing evil from the mind and leading a simple, modest life to attain the pleasure of Almighty Allah," Fakhrul said.

"This noble lesson should inspire us to surrender ourselves to the Creator and dedicate our lives to the welfare of humanity."

The veteran politician highlighted how religious festivals serve a broader social purpose by expanding human values and fostering generosity that transcends religion and race.

He noted that such occasions possess the unique power to unite people, bridging societal divisions with the light of humanity.

"The festival of Eid-ul-Azha, illuminated by the glory of sacrifice, promotes equality, generosity, and mutual harmony," Fakhrul stated.

"Let us pledge to rise above selfish interests and stand firmly by the poor and helpless during this occasion of joy, sacrifice, and celebration."

Concluding his message, the BNP leader prayed for global peace and hoped that the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha would bring joy and fulfillment to everyone's life.
