Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Minister Dipen Dewan has resigned from the Cabinet citing critical health reasons.

Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon,confirmed the development on Monday.

He stated that Dewan officially submitted his resignation letter to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, explicitly mentioning that his current health condition was preventing him from carrying out his official ministerial duties properly.

The Additional Press Secretary further added that the Prime Minister has accepted the resignation.

Dipen Dewan had been serving as the Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs in the current government administration, which was formed following the Bangladesh Nationalist Party's (BNP) landslide victory in the February 12 general election.
