Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon paid profound tribute to the late renowned artist Mustafa Monwar on Tuesday, describing him as a 'versatile talent' and a 'genuine artist' whose contributions have left an indelible mark on the nation’s cultural landscape.

Speaking during the namaz-e-janaza held at the Bangladesh Television (BTV) premises in Rampura this morning, the minister stated, "If a list of the country's talented people is prepared, Mustafa Monwar will be considered one of the foremost among them."

Minister Swapon expressed deep condolences to the grieving family and offered prayers for the eternal peace of the departed soul, noting that it was a significant privilege to bid farewell to the artist at BTV, his most memorable workplace.

Reflecting on Monwar's multi-faceted career, the Information Minister remarked, "We have been familiar with his versatile talent and work since our youth.

He was active in many fields of art and literature. Just as he constantly practiced his talent, he also skillfully led the relevant institutions."

He emphasized that throughout his career, Mustafa Monwar left a lasting impression wherever he served, defined by his sincerity, efficiency, competence, and a unique creative outlook.

The minister also conveyed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the entire BTV family.

The funeral prayer was attended by BTV Director General Md Mahbubul Alam, numerous BTV officials and employees, distinguished figures from the cultural arena, and many of Monwar’s long-time colleagues.

Mustafa Monwar, an eminent cultural personality and Ekushey Padak-winning painter, passed away at a city hospital on Monday at the age of 90 due to age-related complications.
