Bangladesh and several of its European allies on Thursday consolidated their dedication to enhancing historical relations following extensive talks aimed at widening economic ties and strategic alliances across key areas of shared interest.

This mutual understanding was established during a high-level meeting hosted at the Prime Minister's Office in Tejgaon, where Humaiun Kobir, the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs, met with five Dhaka-based European ambassadors and senior diplomats.

The productive session centered on the enduring friendship between Bangladesh and European nations, their expanding fiscal collaboration, and a broad spectrum of bilateral issues.

The European delegation included French Ambassador Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet, Spanish Ambassador Gabriel Sistiaga, British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke, European Union Chargé d’Affaires Baiba Zariņa, and German Chargé d’Affaires Anja Karsten.

Ashik Chowdhury, the Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), was also in attendance to represent the host nation.

Throughout the dialogue, representatives from both sides highlighted the necessity of broadening and variedly expanding their cooperative efforts in commerce, investment, defense, and aviation, alongside other fields of mutual significance.

The conversations underscored a joint determination between Bangladesh and the European countries to scale up engagement in programs that foster economic development, capital investments, and enduring strategic coordination.

During the talks, Humaiun Kobir shared his optimism that Bangladesh’s existing ties with European nations would continue to grow stronger, grounded in mutual trust and reciprocal benefits.

Responding to this, the European diplomats expressed a strong desire to broaden their respective countries' multifaceted relations with Bangladesh, signaling their ongoing commitment to promoting enhanced bilateral and regional partnerships.

The meeting is part of Dhaka's broader, continuous diplomatic outreach with European nations to reinforce traditional friendships while charting new pathways for partnership across political, fiscal, and defense platforms.
