In a congratulatory message, he lauded all players, coaching staff, and support team members for their outstanding performance, describing the triumph as a monumental milestone.

"Bangladesh's glorious victory in a Test match on Australian soil for the first time would play a positive role in the country's progress in cricket," he stated.

Bangladesh scripted history by securing a dominant nine-wicket win over Australia in the series-opening Test at the Marrara Cricket Ground in Darwin.

The result marks the nation's maiden Test victory on Australian soil, long regarded as one of the most challenging environments for touring teams.

The breakthrough unfolded on Day 4, when off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz delivered a decisive five-wicket haul to dismiss the host team for 284 in their second innings.

The performance set Bangladesh a victory target of 57 runs.

The visitors comfortably completed the chase in 14.2 overs, losing only Tanzid Hasan Tamim along the way, to seal a watershed moment in the nation's sporting history.

The landmark triumph comes 23 years after Bangladesh last featured in a Test match in Australia.
