State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir urged expanded French capital deployment within Bangladesh on Thursday, spotlighting growth avenues across critical domains encompassing infrastructure, green energy, aerospace technology, digital innovation, and pharmaceuticals.

During a diplomatic courtesy meeting at the ministry with French Ambassador Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet, the discussions also emphasized expanding pathways for lawful and regulated workforce migration connecting the two nations.

Reiterating Dhaka’s zero-tolerance stance against undocumented movement and people smuggling, the state minister conveyed readiness for bilateral collaboration with Paris to tackle these migration hurdles.

Opening the dialogue, the French ambassador extended felicitations to the state minister upon taking office, following which both dignitaries deliberated on deepening historical diplomatic ties and bilateral cooperation.

The state minister acknowledged France's ongoing developmental partnership with Bangladesh, particularly valuing assistance directed toward socio-economic advancement, democratic transition phases, and capacity-building of national institutions.

Further expansion of bilateral scopes was underlined by the state minister across shared economic priorities, notably mercantile trade and investment, defense cooperation, civil aviation, academic linkages, cultural exchanges, and human resource development.

Agenda items for the forthcoming United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) were jointly reviewed, mapping out mutual expectations and strategic focus areas.

Global and regional developments—spanning climate emergency responses and multilateral diplomacy—featured in the talks, with both delegations reaffirming dedication to unified advocacy in international multilateral platforms.

Ambassador Séré-Charlet reiterated Paris’s commitment to broadening collaboration across all spheres of shared benefit, lauding the administration’s democratic reform trajectory and signaling strong interest in sustained partnership.

Expressing gratitude for ongoing humanitarian relief directed toward the 1.3 million displaced Rohingya population hosted locally, Humaiun Kobir joined the French envoy in affirming preparedness to facilitate safe, voluntary, and dignified repatriation mechanisms.

Both sides concluded with shared optimism that sustained high-level contact and deepened cooperative frameworks will inject fresh momentum into bilateral ties between Bangladesh and France.
