Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today called upon world leaders to work together based on mutual cooperation, solidarity and a shared sense of responsibility to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

"We are lagging far behind in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. We must now take effective steps, and everyone must work together," he said in a video message sent to the United Nations-organised ‘SDG Moment’ event, said his Assistant Press Secretary KM Nazmul Haque.

He stressed the need for strengthening international partnership, sharing experience and undertaking collective initiatives to accelerate implementation of the SDGs.

Heads of state and government from different countries also delivered video messages at the event.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to leave Dhaka on Monday for New York to attend the high-level segment of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA-81).
