Bangladesh has strongly condemned the drone attack on the Taiba electricity distribution center in the holy city of Medina, Saudi Arabia. The condemnation was expressed in a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday (October 4).
Unacceptable Targeting: The statement emphasized that deliberately targeting critical civilian infrastructure dedicated to serving the Prophet's Mosque is completely unacceptable.
Bangladesh stated that such attacks on the sanctity of Islam's holiest sites cannot be tolerated.
Allegations and Denials: The Saudi-led coalition blamed Yemen's Houthi armed group for the attack, claiming that a transformer at the power supply facility was rendered inoperable, though overall power supply remained largely unaffected.
Meanwhile, the Houthi group has directly denied carrying out the attack.
Solidarity with Saudi Arabia: Reaffirming its full solidarity with the protection of Saudi Arabia's security and sovereignty, Dhaka opposed any aggressive acts that undermine regional peace and stability.
The Foreign Ministry concluded by reiterating that Bangladesh's support for Saudi security and sovereignty will remain steadfast, viewing any assault on civilian infrastructure tied to Islam's sacred landmarks as entirely indefensible.
