Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke met on Sunday to explore avenues for deepening economic cooperation and expanding human resource development initiatives between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom.
The British envoy paid a courtesy visit to the prime minister at his office within the Cabinet Division of the Bangladesh Secretariat this afternoon.
"During the meeting, they exchanged views on various issues of mutual interest, including the overall existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the UK," Prime Minister's Assistant Press Secretary KM Nazmul Haque informed journalists following the discussions.
The assistant press secretary noted that the talks encompassed broadening partnerships across trade and investment, economic collaboration, education, skills enhancement, migration, and human capital development.

The two sides also placed special emphasis on bolstering the longstanding, friendly relations uniting Bangladesh and the UK while steering bilateral engagement toward a more multifaceted trajectory.
According to Haque, the discussion covered sustained UK support for Bangladesh's economic growth and trajectory, while actively evaluating potential opportunities to scale up two-way trade and investment flows.
Both the prime minister and the high commissioner expressed confidence in advancing the existing bilateral friendship while opening up new fronts of cooperation for mutual benefit.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir alongside other relevant government officials were in attendance during the meeting.
