Describing incidents of sexual abuse and indecency in madrasas as deeply unfortunate, Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad warned on Saturday (October 24) that the government will implement strict measures to prevent any recurrence in the future.
The Minister made these remarks while attending the triennial council session of the Bangladesh National Imam Association in Agargaon on Saturday morning.
Speaking to journalists following the conference, he shared that instructions have been issued to imams to deliver awareness speeches aimed at preventing such heinous acts in sacred places like madrasas.
Earlier, addressing imams gathered from across the country at the conference, the Minister urged them to remain vigilant so that no instigator can disrupt the nation's communal and religious harmony.
He emphasized that imams should deliver strong messages during Friday sermon (Khutbah) against drugs, terrorism, and social evils, highlighting the respect and acceptance imams hold within society.
During the event, leaders of the Imam Association presented their various grievances, including demands for salary and allowance increases.
