The bodies of the remaining seven Bangladeshi workers killed in a sofa factory fire in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, have arrived in Bangladesh.

The bodies landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka around 8:30 AM on Saturday (October 31) aboard Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-336.

After completing the necessary airport formalities, the bodies will be handed over to their relatives and subsequently transported to their native villages in Naogaon and Natore.

On August 9, a devastating fire at a sofa manufacturing factory in Riyadh claimed the lives of 16 Bangladeshi workers. In the first phase, the bodies of nine victims were brought back home on August 27.

The remaining seven bodies could not be identified immediately due to severe burn injuries. Their identities were later confirmed through DNA testing.

The seven Bangladeshis identified via DNA testing are: Md. Shahin of Naogaon Sadar Upazila; Md. Hasibul Hasan Shuvo, Minhaj Pramanik, Md. Masidul Sardar Sojib, and Md. Sagar Ali of Atrai Upazila; and Mohammad Shamim and Md. Sabbir Hossain of Naldanga Upazila in Natore.

According to embassy sources, alternative arrangements had to be made to repatriate the bodies due to the temporary suspension of all flights from Riyadh since October 10.

The bodies were first transported by road from Riyadh to Jeddah and subsequently flown to Dhaka from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah via Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
