Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is visiting Khulna and Bagerhat today. The Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary, Atiqur Rahman Rumon, informed that the Prime Minister will depart Dhaka by helicopter for Mongla at 9:00 AM on Thursday (November 5), and will later travel to Khulna by road.
He stated, "The Prime Minister has two scheduled programs in Mongla and one in Khulna. Additionally, he will visit the shrine of Hazrat Khan Jahan Ali (R.) in Bagerhat district headquarters. After completing his schedule in Mongla, the Prime Minister will proceed to Khulna by road."
In Khulna, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Notun Kuri Sports (Season 2) at the Khulna District Stadium. The event is organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports to scout talent from the grassroots level across the country.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister’s arrival has sparked enthusiasm among leaders, activists, and supporters in Khulna, while local residents are expressing excitement. The entire city has been cleaned up for the occasion.
The district stadium and surrounding roads have been decorated with colorful banners and festoons for Notun Kuri Sports (Season 2). Various graffiti has been painted on the walls stretching from Shivbari Intersection to the main gate of the railway station.
These graffiti pieces highlight the history and heritage of Khulna, featuring memories of the July Mass Uprising, portraits of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, as well as depictions of the Sundarbans and the Royal Bengal Tiger.
An on-the-spot inspection revealed that all arches and billboards installed to welcome the Prime Minister have been removed, alongside festoons put up by party activists. For the first time, haphazardly placed arches, banners, and festoons are absent during a head of government's visit. Tight security measures have been put in place across Khulna city to mark the Prime Minister's arrival.
Khulna City Corporation Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju said, "The city has been cleaned and beautified for Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s visit to Khulna. We are looking forward to extending a warm welcome to our Prime Minister."
