Ansar force played efficient role during election: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, Ansar and Village Defense Party (VDP) have played efficient role during national crisis, emergency situation and eleventh national parliament election. This force also has performed its duty sincerely to prevent terrorism and militancy. Everybody has to be conscious against drugs and terrorism.

The Prime Minister said these while delivering speech as the chief guest in the 39^th national gathering and drill program of Ansar and VDP at its academy at Shafipur in Gazipur on Tuesday. In the program the premier took the salute and inspected the parade.

At the beginning of her speech she paid respect to the language martyrs and said, I remember the language martyr Ansar VDP member Shaheed Abdul Jabbar in the month of language, who sacrificed his life to attain dignity of mother tongue.

She said, I remember father of the nation Bangabandhu under whose leadership we have got the opportunity to speak in mother tongue, achieved the independence. I also remember the four national leaders. I remember 670 members of Ansar force who sacrificed their lives in the liberation war.

The Prime Minister said, when the first government of Bangladesh was formed during liberation war in Mujibnagar at that time this Ansar force offered guard of honor to that new government.

Mentioning Ansar-VDP as the country’s biggest people oriented disciplined force the head of government said, recently the eleventh national parliament election was held where nearly 5 lakh members of Ansar discharged their duties risking their lives. They have gifted a fair election to the nation through tireless labor. Five Ansar members sacrificed their lives. We have offered posthumous bravery medals to them.

She said, during 2014-15 when BNP-Jamaat clique was doing arson terrorism and creating obstruction to people’s movement by burning trains, vehicles, launches and auto rickshaws and hurling cocktails and bombs and were killing people by burning then Ansar force played major role to save people specially for safety in rail service. I thank them for their unprecedented role in this regard. We can provide security for people’s lives and properties for their role.
