Fire Service and Civil Defense has formed a 5-member investigation committee in connection with the devastating fire that broke out at FR Tower at Banani in the capital on Thursday.
The information was delivered by Fire Service Director General (DG) Brigadier General Sajjad Hossain on Thursday evening.
He said, the 5-member investigation committee was formed to find out how the fire at FR Tower was originated and to assess the amount of loss. Detail information will be delivered after getting the investigation report in hand.
Sajjad Hossain said, there were a lot of flammable materials in FR Tower. Foams and synthetic fibers were used for decoration in the building. For that reason huge smoke was created.
The fire originated from 8th floor of the FR Tower at around 12:45 pm on Thursday.
So far 19 people were declared dead in connection with the incident. All the dead bodies were yet to be identified. Besides, 70 people were also injured in the incident.
