Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said, the government was not informed beforehand about the gathering in Teknaf where more than one lakh Rohingyas were present. We were informed after watching the news on mass media.
He said these to the newsmen after taking part in a discussion and doa mahfil on the occasion of national mourning day at the national museum on Monday.
The Foreign Minister said, we had no idea about Rohingya gathering. We watched the event on mass media report. No such movement or gathering will be allowed to hold in future.
Dr. AK Abdul Momen said, Myanmar is fully responsible for not starting the repatriation process on August 22. Because, they could not give assurance to the Rohingya people. They could not make Rohingyas to understand that they would be given citizenship facilities and security.
Recently one Rohingya leader visited United States of America. When the newsmen wanted to know which passport he used, the minister said that the leader did not use Bangladeshi passport. Sometimes visit can be arranged without passport after taking permission, he added.
