Police disperse BNP procession at Paltan

Dhaka metropolitan south unit of BNP brought out a procession at Paltan on Monday as per center declared programs demanding party Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s release from jail.

But police chased the demonstration procession and dispersed it in front of Baitul Mokarram mosque. Incidents of chase and counter chase occurred between police and the leaders and activists of BNP during the period. The incident took place at around 2pm.

In primary information detainment of some activists was heard but nobody could confirm it.

Bangla TV reporter Arman Kayes and his cameraman were also detained while performing professional duties, his colleagues alleged.

Motijheel zone ADC of police Shibli Noman and other 6-7 police members were also injured by thrown stones of the BNP activists. They also vandalized a police vehicle.

Vehicle movement was halted when the chase and counter chase took place. Panic also gripped the people.

On Sunday the party declared fresh programs demanding unconditional release of Khaleda Zia from jail. Under the declared program Dhaka metropolitan south BNP organized the demonstration.
