The Bangladesh National Women's Football Team and 14 individuals have been nominated to receive the prestigious Ekushey Padak for 2025, in recognition of their exceptional contributions across various fields. The Ministry of Culture announced the nominees on Thursday, February 6.
The nominees for the 2025 Ekushey Padak include:
- Azizur Rahman (posthumous) – Arts (Film)
- Ustad Nirad Baran Barua (posthumous) – Arts (Music)
- Ferdous Ara – Arts (Music)
- Nasir Ali Mamun – Arts (Photography)
- Rokeya Sultana – Arts (Painting)
- Mahfuz Ullah (posthumous) – Journalism
- Mahmudur Rahman – Journalism and Human Rights
- Dr Shahidul Alam – Culture and Education
- Dr Niyaz Zaman – Education
- Mehedi Hasan Khan – Science and Technology
- Mohammad Yusuf Chowdhury (posthumous) – Social Services
- Helal Hafiz (posthumous) – Language and Literature
- Shahidul Zahir (Md. Shahidul Haque) (posthumous) – Language and Literature
- Maidul Hasan – Research
In addition to these individuals, the Bangladesh National Women's Football Team has been nominated in the Sports category.
Since its inception in 1976, the Ekushey Padak has been awarded annually to individuals and organizations who have made significant national contributions in fields such as literature, arts, science, education, journalism, social services, and more.
