The government is set to impose a nationwide 58-day ban on catching and selling hilsa from April 15 to June 11, as announced by Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter.
This decision aims to protect the fish during its breeding season. The ban will also cover the transportation, storage, marketing, buying, and selling of hilsa.
Additionally, to regulate the supply and pricing of fish, meat, milk, and eggs during Ramadan, the government will ensure affordable sales of broiler chicken, eggs, pasteurized milk, and beef from March 1 to 28.
