Chief Advisor Pays Homage to the Nation's Valiant Freedom Fighters

Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus today paid his respects to the valiant freedom fighters of 1971 at the National Martyrs' Memorial in Savar, marking the Great Independence and National Day.

After laying a floral wreath at the monument, located on the outskirts of the capital Dhaka, the Chief Advisor stood in solemn silence for a period of time to honor the memory of the heroic martyrs of the Liberation War of 1971.

During the ceremony, a smart contingent from the Bangladesh Army, Navy, and Air Force presented a state salute. The Chief Advisor also signed the visitors' book at the memorial premises.

Earlier in the day, around 5:50 AM, President Mohammed Shahabuddin paid his respects to the heroes of the 1971 Liberation War. Following the wreath-laying, the President also stood in silent tribute to the memory of the martyred freedom fighters.

Following the Chief Advisor, members of the advisory council, and then the Bir Sreshtho (highest gallantry award) families, wounded freedom fighters, and other freedom fighters, led by the Advisor on Liberation War Affairs, laid floral wreaths.

Subsequently, foreign diplomats, various political and social organizations, along with people from all walks of life, will successively place wreaths at the memorial to pay their respects to the martyred freedom fighters.
