Interim Government's Chief Adviser, Dr Muhammad Yunus, has departed for Dhaka after completing his four-day official visit to China.
On Saturday (March 29) afternoon, he left from Beijing International Airport for Dhaka. At the airport, he was seen off by Hong Lei, China's Chief Protocol Officer of President Xi Jinping and Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Earlier in the day, Dr Yunus was honored with an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Peking University, where he also addressed the students.
Dr Yunus arrived in China on March 26 for a four-day visit, during which he received a red-carpet welcome from the Chinese government.
On March 27, he delivered a speech at the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2025.
The next day, March 28, Dr Yunus met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing for a bilateral discussion. On the same day, Bangladesh and China signed an economic and technical cooperation agreement, along with eight Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).
Dr Yunus later participated in an Investment Dialogue with Chinese business leaders and took part in three roundtable discussions on:
- Sustainable Infrastructure and Energy Investment
- Bangladesh 2.0: Manufacturing and Market Opportunities
- Social Business and Youth Entrepreneurship – Towards a Three-Zero World
During his visit, Dr Yunus also met with several high-profile leaders, including:
- Ding Xuexiang, Executive Vice Premier of China
- Li Guoying, China's Minister of Water Resources
- Alexei Overchuk, Russia's Deputy Prime Minister
- Ban Ki-moon, Former UN Secretary-General & Chairman of Boao Forum for Asia (BFA)
Dr Yunus was accompanied on this visit by:
