Chief Advisor, Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus is set to visit Thailand on Thursday (April 3) to participate in the BIMSTEC Summit. Dr Khalilur Rahman, the Chief Advisor's Special Envoy, has indicated that a potential meeting between Dr Yunus and Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, could take place on the sidelines of the summit.
Speaking at a press briefing held on Wednesday (April 2) at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road in Dhaka, Dr Khalilur Rahman emphasized the importance of discussions among BIMSTEC leaders as Dr Yunus is set to become the organization's next chairman.
The 6th BIMSTEC Summit, bringing together key leaders from South Asia, will be held in Thailand. Dr Yunus is scheduled to depart for Bangkok at 9 am on Thursday (April 3) and return home at 8 pm on Friday (April 4).
During his visit, the Chief Advisor will be accompanied by Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Touhid Hossain and Foreign Secretary Md Jasim Uddin, marking their first official international trip as part of his delegation.
The press conference was also attended by the Chief Advisor's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam and Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Mojumdar.
