At a mass rally held at Dhaka's historic Suhrawardy Udyan, Amar Desh editor Mahmudur Rahman called on Muslim leaders around the world to sever diplomatic ties with Israel. He made this appeal while reading a formal declaration from the event's main stage.
The rally, organized under the banner of Palestine Solidarity Movement Bangladesh, began at around 3:15 pm with a recitation from the Holy Qur'an and concluded around 4:00 pm with a prayer led by Maulana Abdul Malek, Khatib of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.
The gathering was held in protest against Israel’s ongoing attacks on Palestinians in Gaza. Thousands of people from all walks of life joined the event, calling on the global Muslim community to unite against what they described as Israeli aggression.
The Suhrawardy Udyan grounds were packed with demonstrators, many enduring the heat and chanting slogans like "Who are you? Who am I? Palestine! Palestine!"
Prominent Islamic scholars—including Mizanur Rahman Azhari, Sheikh Ahmadullah, and Hasnat Abdullah—addressed the crowd from the main stage. Organizers estimated that several hundred thousand people attended the rally in solidarity with the people of Gaza.
