In a meeting held by the interim government's Advisory Council, five important decisions were approved, according to a press release issued by the Cabinet Division on Thursday (22 May).
Here are the highlights:
Fish Protection Ordinance Approved:
The draft of the Fish Protection and Conservation (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025 received both policy-level and final approval. The draft will be finalized after legal vetting by the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division.
Defense Cooperation with the Netherlands:
Approval was granted for a proposal to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Bangladesh and the Netherlands on cooperation in naval defence equipment.
Reform Commission Recommendations:
The Council gave directions to implement immediately actionable recommendations made by the Reform Commission. Ministries and divisions will review the feasibility, timeline, and impact of these suggestions and present their findings through the Cabinet Division, which will coordinate the overall process.
Support for July Uprising Victims:
The draft of the July Uprising Martyrs' Families and Injured Citizens’ Welfare and Rehabilitation Ordinance, 2025 received both policy and final approval, pending legal vetting.
Amendment to Government Service Ordinance:
The draft of the Government Service (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025 was also approved, subject to finalization after legal vetting.
