Five people have died from the coronavirus in the past 24 hours, with 36 new cases identified during the same period.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) released this information in a press statement on Sunday (June 22).
According to the statement, 621 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, with 36 individuals testing positive for the virus, and five of them succumbing to the illness.
So far this year, 433 people have been diagnosed with Covid-19, and 16 have died.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 2,051,978 people in the country have been infected with coronavirus, and 29,515 have died.
It's worth noting that the first three cases of Covid-19 in Bangladesh were identified on March 8, 2020. Ten days later, on March 18 of that year, the country recorded its first death from the virus.
On two days in 2021, August 5 and 10, the highest number of deaths were recorded, with 264 fatalities each day.
