
A meeting was held between a delegation from the Constitution Reform Commission and National Consensus Commission and the Acting U.S. Ambassador to Dhaka, Tracy Ann Jacobson. The delegation was led by Ali Riaz, head of the Constitution Reform Commission and co-vice president of the National Consensus Commission.
The meeting began after 3:30 PM on Tuesday, August 12, at the U.S. Ambassador's private residence in Gulshan-2. Both sides gave significant attention to political inclusion and national unity during the discussion.
This follows a separate meeting held on Monday, August 11, at the ambassador's residence, where a delegation from the National Citizens' Party (NCP) met with Tracy Ann Jacobson. The NCP delegation was led by convener Nahid Islam and member secretary Akhtar Hossain, with senior joint member secretary Tasnim Zara and joint member secretary Alauddin Mohammad also in attendance.
According to sources, the discussions focused on the overall situation in the country, particularly the current political climate and the upcoming national election. Matters of mutual interest to both Bangladesh and the United States were also discussed.
Alauddin Mohammad, joint member secretary of the NCP, told the media about the meeting, "They have already met with the BNP and Jamaat. Our meeting was a part of that process. We discussed the current political situation in the country, post-uprising reforms, our political manifesto, and the next election. They are listening to all sides' perspectives on these issues. We presented our viewpoint on the current situation."
