Google celebrates Int’l Women’s Day 2018 with female artists’ visual narratives in an interactive Doodle. The female artists are from 12 different countries including Japan and Pakistan, according to The Independent.
The women shared their stories in visual narratives. They shared special events and moments that changed their lives in comic strips, drawn and illustrated by them.Nottingham’s animator and comic artist Philippa Rice is one of the artists whose story was highlighted.
She said, “I was delighted to be asked to take part and to have my work alongside fantastic comic artists from around the world. My story is about how overwhelming it is to become a mother and how talking to others and sharing your troubles can make you feel better. I hope that if anyone reads it and identifies with it, then they can at least feel that they're not alone. I really enjoyed working on a Google Doodle! I feel really lucky to get to share my story.”
According to her, “International Women’s Day provided a powerful platform to applaud female artists from across the globe. For more than a century it has provided a time to look back at women’s achievements and celebrate the movement for women’s rights. It was a great opportunity to support, promote and celebrate women artists and writers from around the world and to share our stories. I love to see my social media feeds filled with art from loads of my favorite artists and discover the work of so many women who I wasn't aware of before.”
International Women's Day is being observed on Thursday across the country as elsewhere in the world with a call for ensuring women's participation in all spheres of the national development to build a prosperous country, reports BSS.
