Health Minister Zahid Maleque has informed that when we will be able to produce corona vaccines then we would export those to overseas countries after meeting the local demand.
He said, WHO has promised us that whatever we need to produce corona vaccines- they will provide support in this regard. In this way Bangladesh will be able to export vaccines after producing those in the country.
The minister was speaking at the inaugural program of drug addiction prevention and mental health suggestion center WESIS at South Keraniganj in Dhaka on Thursday.
The health minister said, we have inoculated 80 lakh people in a day. Most of the countries of the world are unable to do that. In the coming Victory Day we hope that we will be able to inoculate more than 80 lakh people.
He said, the Prime Minister has spent 20 thousand crore taka for vaccine purpose. She also said that everybody will be brought under vaccination, no matter how much money it needs, so that the people of the country would be protected. If a person is vaccinated then the chance of death would reduce even he or she is infected with coronavirus.
Zahid Maleque said, the country has stepped much forward comparing to other countries. So far we have inoculated about three crore people with the first dose. And second dose of vaccine has been provided for nearly two crore people. The commitment of the WHO was to provide 20 per cent free vaccines for Bangladesh. But they said that as Bangladesh is able to vaccinate people in well manner, so they will provide us 40 per cent vaccines for free.
The minister also said that corona transmission rate is under control at the moment and it should be under control.
