Nowadays, Metrorail, one of the leading transportation system in the latest inner-city communication system around the world. It was first launched in London.

Bangladesh is also going to be included it to the list.

On Wednesday, December 28, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will start off the country's first Metro Rail. From the very next day, mass people can take the advantage of it.

For the time being People can grab the Metro Rail service from Agargaon to Uttara.

Country's millions of people are eagerly awaiting for the grand opening of the Metrorail (MRT Line 6).

According to the Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Smart vehicles needed for Smart Bangladesh.

The world is moving fast and we cannot stay behind.

From Uttara to Agargaon, the first phase of the metro rail will start on December 28, from Agargaon to Motijheel, the second phase is thought to be started by the end of 2023.

By 2025, the adjunct part from Motijheel to Kamalapur railway station may be launched.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said, "By 2030, Six MRT lines will be construct in Dhaka.

In 2012, Dhaka's first metro rail, known as MRT Line-6, was taken forward by the Government. 21 thousand 985 crore taka was the initial cost of the MRT Line-6 project.

Later on, due to an additional part from Motijheel to Kamalapur, cost expanded to 11 thousand 496 crore 92 lakhs. At that instant, the project's total cost rose to 33 thousand 472 crores.

Japan International Cooperation Agency funded 19 thousand 719 crores. And Government funded 13 thousand 753 crores.

According to Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) sources, the construction work of six metrorails will be completed in three phases by 2030.

'No open space ceremony on 31st Night'

DMP Commissioner Khandker Golam Faruq BPM-Bar, PPM has requested not to hold any event in open spaces on the occasion of thirty-first night to welcome the New Year. On Saturday, 31 December 2022 at 11:00 am, Mr. Khandker made this statement in a press briefing on law and order and traffic management on the occasion of 31st Night celebration at DMP Media Center. In the press briefing, DMP Commissioner wished New Year to the city dwellers and said that sufficient number of forces have been deployed in the capital on the occasion of 31st Night celebrations. Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT), bomb disposal unit and dog squad will be on standby. They will be deployed on an emergency basis. Mariam Afiza: Metro rail's first woman driver

Mariam Afiza is going to emerge as the first metro train operator of the Mass Rapid Transit line-6 as she completed all necessary preparations to run the country's ever-first metro rail scheduled to be inaugurated tomorrow. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to inaugurate the much-awaited metro rail partially from Uttara to Agargaon station at 11 am on Wednesday. "All preparations have been completed to open the metro rail. The required number of operators has been appointed to run the metro trains. Of them, six are female," Managing Director (MD) of Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) MAN Siddique said. The operators are being imparted proper training, so they can run the metro rail efficiently, he added. Speaking about Afiza, the DMTCL MD said Afiza was appointed as a metro train operator after completing her master's degree from Noakhali Science and Technology University in Chemistry. She received a year-long training to prepare her as a skilled operator, he said, adding that Afiza also received another two-month-long training at Bangladesh Railway Training Academy in Chattogram's Halishahar. After returning to Dhaka, she also completed another four-month-long training, Siddique said. Currently, Afiza is taking technical and practical training at the metro rail depot in Uttara's Diabari while experts of metro rail construction company Mitsubishi-Kawasaki of Japan are imparting training to the operators on technical and practical issues, he added. Initially, the metro train will run from 8 am to 12 noon every day from Uttara station to Agargaon station without any stoppage.
