After a long hiatus of 22 years, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman is scheduled to arrive in Khulna today, Monday (February 2).
His highly anticipated visit has sparked immense excitement among party grassroots, with activists and supporters flocking to the Prabhati School grounds in Khalishpur since early morning.
Supporters from across Khulna, as well as neighboring Satkhira and Bagerhat districts, began arriving at the venue at dawn via various modes of transport. As the morning progressed, the crowd grew significantly, filling the field in anticipation of the leader's arrival.
Tarique Rahman is expected to take the stage as the chief guest at 12:00 PM. During the event, he will formally introduce 14 BNP candidates representing three districts in the region.
Party workers expressed high expectations for the visit, hoping the Chairman will outline specific plans to resolve regional crises and provide a strategic roadmap to ensure a victory for the ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ (Dhaner Shish) in the upcoming polls.
Shafiqul Alam Tuhin, General Secretary of the Metropolitan BNP, stated that they aim to make this the largest electoral gathering in the country's southern region.
"We are expecting an attendance of approximately 800,000 people," Tuhin said. "Six sub-committees, covering coordination, discipline, accommodation, media, and security, are working in tandem to ensure the event's success."
