The design of Metro Rail is being prepared keeping preference on the color of red and green. The rail service will be launched with 6 bogies at the first stage. Aiming at the target the construction work is going on in full swing.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that the construction work of metro rail project will be completed by the year 2020.
On Monday an agreement was signed at a city hotel for 5 and 6 number package of the construction work. After signing the deal he said this to the newsmen.
The minister said, the incident of Gulshan attack hindered the work of metro rail project. But we have overcome the loss. Now the project will be completed within the year 2020.
He said, we will be able to complete the work towards Agargaon by 2019 and the total project work from Uttara third phase to Bangladesh Bank in Motijheel will be completed by 2020.
The whole metro rail project is divided into eight packages. Rail track and seven stations will be constructed from Agargaon to Motijheel under package 5 and 6.
According to the project sources, the implementation cost of the project is fixed at nearly 22 thousand crore taka. Of the amount JICA will provide 16 thousand 595 crore taka and the rest 5 thousand 390 crore taka will be from government exchequer. The government also formed a company named Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) to implement the project.
Concerned said, if the project is implemented then it will take 37 minutes to come in Motijheel from Uttara. The speed of the electric run train will be 32 kilometers per hour. 14 trains each containing 6 bogies will run on this track. Each train will carry one thousand 696 passengers.
When the service will be activated in 2019, the trains will leave for destinations at 3 minutes interval. Then it will be turned into 2 minutes interval if needed.
The 16 stations of the metro rail project are: Uttara-north, Uttara-center, Uttara-south, Pallabi, Mirpur-11, Mirpur-10, Kazipara, Shewrapara, Agargaon, Bijoy Sarani, Farmgate, Karwan Bazar, Shahbag, Dhaka University, Bangladesh Secretariat and Motijheel.
