After heart’s ring the government has fixed the maximum prices of valve and pacemaker. The formal declaration came in from a meeting of the Drug Administration Directorate office at Mohakhali in the capital on Tuesday.
The Drug Administration reduced the price of mechanical heart valve from 4 thousand 800 taka to 26 thousand taka and it reduced the price from 5 thousand taka to 4 lakh 7 thousand taka for the pacemaker supplied from hospitals.
The brand specific price list of valve and pacemaker were directed to install in the visible place of all private and government hospitals.
The prices were fixed for the life saving medical devices following allegation that valve and pacemaker were selling at different prices as there was no specific price list.
Director General of Drug Administration Directorate Major General Mustafizur Rahman, Director of Cardiovascular Disease hospital, Director of Health Directorate (hospital) and other officials were present in the meeting.
It was said in the meeting that from now valve and pacemaker will be sold in the same price in all hospitals.
DG of Drug Administration Directorate Major General Mustafizur Rahman said, we have fixed the prices following discussions with all. The steps are taken so that anybody won’t be cheated regarding the price. We hope that all will follow the rules. We will take necessary action if there is any irregularity. He also requested concerned to remain alert.
Meanwhile importing firms have said that local market could be influenced by price hike in the international market.
