Three people have been killed in a clash between Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and quota protesters in Chattogram demanding quota reform in government jobs. At least 20 people were injured in the incident.

The incident took place on Tuesday (July 16) at around 4 pm.

Two of the decreased have been identified as Wasim, 22, a student at Chittagong Government College, and Md Faruk, 32, an employee at a furniture shop. The other man, in his mid-20s, has a gunshot wound in his back, doctors said.

CMP Commissioner Saiful Islam said three people were killed in the clash. One of them was a student of Chittagong College, another pedestrian and the other died while undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, Chattogram BGB Battalion-8 Commander Lieutenant Colonel Shahed Minhaz Siddique said that three platoons of BGB have been deployed in Chittagong after the clash.

Referring to the quota reform movement, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, 'Why is there so much anger over the Liberation War?' The grandchildren of freedom fighters will get nothing, then will the grandchildren of Razakars get everything?" Students of Dhaka University began their protest on Sunday night, accusing Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of calling the quota reform protesters 'children or grandchildren of Razakars'. The movement then spread across the capital. Now the movement has spread across the country.
