Curfew relaxed till 5 pm today

Government imposed curfew to control the situation surrounding the quota reform movement.

However, the curfew is being relaxed for a few hours every day. The curfew will be relaxed from 8 am to 5 pm in four districts including Dhaka on Saturday (July 27).

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal made the announcement at a press briefing at his Dhanmondi residence in the capital on Friday (July 26) night.

He said curfew will be imposed in Dhaka, Gazipur, Narayanganj and Narsingdi on Saturday. However, the curfew will be relaxed from 8 am to 5 pm. Besides, the district administration will decide on the curfew in the rest of the districts.

The minister told reporters that the law and order is improving rapidly across the country. The curfew will be gradually relaxed as soon as public safety is ensured.

He also said that a decision may be taken over curfew situation on Saturday (July 27).
