Truck-Autorickshaw Collision Claims 5 Lives in Kaliganj

A tragic collision between a covered van and a CNG-powered autorickshaw in Kaliganj, Gazipur, resulted in the death of five people, including a child, and left two others injured.

The accident occurred late on Saturday, September 14, around 11 p.m., on the Tongi-Ghorashal bypass road near Moolgaon Madrasa in Kaliganj municipality. Among the victims were three men, a woman, and a child.

According to police and local sources, the covered van collided head-on with the autorickshaw, killing four passengers instantly. Locals rushed three severely injured individuals, including a four-year-old boy and the autorickshaw driver, to the Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex. Sadly, the child was declared dead by the attending doctor. The critically injured autorickshaw driver has been transferred to Dhaka for further treatment.

Mostafizur Rahman, the leader of the Kaliganj Fire Service, confirmed that four bodies, including that of a woman, were recovered at the scene. The child succumbed to injuries after being taken to the hospital.
