4 Schoolchildren Killed in Kushtia After Minibus Collision
In Kushtia's Khoksa, a tragic accident involving a speeding minibus claimed the lives of four schoolchildren and left two others injured.
The incident occurred around 7:15 AM on Sunday (September 29) at Shimulia Kuthipara along the Kushtia-Rajbari regional highway. The victims were identified as Mim (12), Tanzila (11), and Bithi (12), all local students. Mim was the daughter of Md. Hanif, Tanzila the daughter of Palon Sheikh, and Bithi the daughter of Helal Uddin.
According to SI Harunur Rashid of Kushtia Highway Police, the children were returning home after their Arabic lessons at the local mosque when they were struck by a speeding minibus. The vehicle overturned into a nearby pond after hitting them, killing Mim on the spot. Tanzila and Bithi succumbed to their injuries later at Khoksa Health Complex, while two others, Fatema and Sadia, are currently receiving treatment.
In protest of the accident, enraged locals blocked the Kushtia-Rajbari highway, causing significant traffic congestion.
