7 Burned in Explosion from Gas Line Leak

An explosion occurred from a leak in a main gas line on the road in Sonargaon Upazila of Narayanganj, injuring seven workers.

The incident took place at around 11:00 p.m. on Monday, November 11, in front of the Lovely Cinema Hall in Sonapur, Kanchpur.

The injured workers are Joy, Md. Jahangir Alam, Md. Sultan, Raju, Mizan, Md. Shahjalal, and Ripon.

Eyewitnesses reported that the workers were installing a water tap on the road in front of the Lovely Cinema Hall in Sonapur, Kanchpur, when an explosion occurred from a nearby leak in the main gas line during welding work. Seven workers were burned in the incident.

Of those injured, two are out of danger, but the remaining five have been admitted to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in critical condition. The extent of their burns is not yet known.
