An explosion caused by a gas leak in Dhaka's Fakirapool area has left three members of the same family injured, including a woman.
The incident occurred around 11:45 am on Sunday at a residence on Gorom Panir Goli. The victims were rushed to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.
The injured have been identified as Kulsum Akhter (25), Riaz Hossain (21), and Kamrunnnesa Rozina (45), all originally from Raipura upazila in Lakshmipur. They had been living in Fakirapool on rent.
Ibrahim Khalil, a neighbour who helped take them to the hospital, said the explosion happened while the family was cooking. Local residents quickly came to their aid and transported them to the hospital’s emergency burn unit.
Md Faruk, the in-charge inspector of the police camp at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, confirmed the incident. He stated that all three victims were brought in with burn injuries and are undergoing treatment. The severity of their burns will be assessed by doctors. The local police station has been informed for further investigation.
