A Bangladeshi youth named Habil was injured by BSF firing at the Telkupi border in Shibganj Upazila of Chapainawabganj.

The incident occurred on Saturday (January 25) at around 3:30 am inside Indian territory near the Telkupi border. In response, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has called for a flag meeting with the BSF to discuss the situation.

Habil, the injured youth, is the son of the late Belal Uddin from Lamba Para village in Telkupi, Shibganj Upazila.

According to sources at the border and the BGB, Habil and several others reportedly crossed into Indian territory to smuggle drugs. During the operation, BSF personnel opened fire, injuring Habil. Despite his injuries, he managed to return to the Bangladeshi side of the border.

Habil was brought to Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital by his family at around 7 AM, where he received initial treatment before being transferred to a hospital in Rajshahi.

Lt. Col. Golam Kibria, Commander of the 59th BGB Battalion in Chapainawabganj, confirmed the shooting and the injury of the Bangladeshi youth. He stated that the BGB has formally requested a flag meeting with the BSF to address the incident.
