Army Chief General Waker-uz-Zaman said Army personnel must always be ready to dedicate themselves to serving the nation and, if necessary, be willing to sacrifice their lives.
He made these remarks on Thursday (February 27) at 9:30 am during the 7th 'Colonel of the Regiment' induction ceremony at the Bangladesh Infantry Regimental Center’s parade ground in Rajshahi Cantonment. With this event, he formally assumed the role of guardian of the Bangladesh Infantry Regimental Center.
General Wakar-uz-Zaman emphasized that the Infantry Regiment has been carrying out its duties with responsibility since 1971. He further stated that steps will be taken to modernize and strengthen the regiment's capabilities in the future.
He urged all regiment members to stay prepared for 21st-century challenges through advanced and effective training.
The Army Chief also highlighted the continuous modernization and development of the Bangladesh Army, assuring that its capabilities will further expand in the coming days. He reaffirmed the commitment to training soldiers to be highly skilled and professional.
Senior officials from the Army Headquarters, the Bangladesh Infantry Regiment, and other dignitaries attended the event.
Earlier, upon his arrival at the Rajshahi Cantonment parade ground, the Army Chief received a formal military salute following traditional military customs. He was then ceremonially adorned with the 'Colonel Rank Badge.'
