A cleaner working at a cineplex outlet in Chattogram was arrested on Friday for secretly recording a video of a woman inside a washroom at the Finlay Square facility in the Nasirabad area of the port city.

The arrestee has been identified as 23-year-old Jitu Pal, a resident of Anwara upazila.

He had been employed as a cleaner at the cineplex for the past seven to eight months.

According to witnesses, the woman had gone to the cineplex with her family members to watch a movie.

At one point, upon entering the washroom, she allegedly noticed someone attempting to record her using a mobile phone.

She then reportedly confronted and caught Jitu at the scene.

People nearby subsequently examined his mobile phone and allegedly found a video of the woman filmed inside the washroom.

They also reportedly uncovered videos of several other women that had allegedly been recorded secretly at different times.

Cineplex authorities informed the police, who arrived at the scene and placed Jitu under arrest.

Police stated that the incident is under investigation and that the video files discovered on the mobile phone are currently being examined.

Zahedul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Panchlaish Police Station, confirmed that legal action will be taken following a thorough investigation into the allegations.
