
Associate Professor of Bangabandhu Shiekh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) dental department and Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumdar's son in law Rajan Karmakar died mysteriously, claimed his family members.
On Saturday night Rajan was taken to Square Hospital from a house of Indira Road of Farmgate in the capital. Rajan's wife Krishna Kaberi Majumdar is also an Associate Professor of surgery department of BSMMU.
In this regard Officer in Charge of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station Jane Alam said, we have heard the news. But till now neither the family members of the minister nor that of the deceased have complained.
He said, We have known that Rajan was admitted to the Square Hospital last night. He lived in 47 number house of Indira Road.
Uncle of Rajan Karmakar named as Sujan Karmakar said, at first family members of Rajan's father in law wanted to take the dead body from the hospital without post mortem. But as a non-diabetic patient such death cannot be accepted. We want post mortem examination.
According to Rajan's family source, on Saturday night at around 12 am Rajan returned home after completing his private practice at Green Life Hospital. At around 3:30 am a phone came to Rajan's mother which said that his son going to die in the night. When Rajan was taken to Square Hospital on that night the duty physician declared him dead. The family also alleged that police are not filing case in this connection.
One of Rajan's colleague and BSMMU Medical Officer Dr. Omar Faruk mentioned that Rajan had family feud.
Rajan Karmakar was the eighth batch (BDS)student of Chittagong Medical College. His village home is at Ekhlaspur under Begumganj upazila of Noakhali district. His father's name is Sunil Karmakar.
Speech of Square Hospital emergency department:
Rajan was brought to the hospital at around 4 am. Dr. Sajib was on duty at that time. Quoting him at around 4 pm on Sunday Dr. Asad said, dead body of Rajan was brought to the hospital. It was not seemed abnormal death. So police were not informed. The family was informed.
