
The home ministry has imposed ban on carrying and showing of all types of legal arms from early morning of January 30 to February 3 midnight with an aim to hold the two Dhaka city corporation elections in a free, fair and peaceful manner.
The ban was imposed through an order of the ministry on Monday.
The order signed by home ministry Deputy Secretary Abdul Jalil said, elections of Dhaka north and south city corporation are scheduled to hold on February 1. A circular was issued from political branch of the public security division for holding the election in a free, fair and peaceful manner.
The order to ban carrying and showing of legal arms was imposed according to the power of section 17(Ka)(1) of the arms act 1878.
The home ministry order also said that necessary action will be taken according to the arms act against the violators of the order.
